Donald J. Stone

Mr. Stone, a successfully retired retailer, has a long and varied history of helping the arts and cultural communities in North Texas serving area citizens with resources, culture and art. In 1976 Mr. Stone joined the Dallas Symphony Foundation and now serves as President. He was — and is — instrumental in helping the Dallas Symphony remain financially secure to guarantee their continued performances for future generations. Since 1989, Mr. Stone has been a member of the Friends of the Dallas Public Library, and was Chairman of the Board for two years, raising half of the $3 million goal for renovations and improvements. Mr. Stone’s assistance and guidance with development and endowment plans have improved the effectiveness of FACP fund raising efforts.  At Dallas’ Voices of Change, Mr. Stone has been an active member, major donor and advisory board member. As a major donor and advisory board member for Dallas Chamber Music, he has given his time and talent to produce audience growth and outreach. Mr. Stone is also a founding member of the New Orchestra of Spain.
