Teaching Artists

All Fine Arts Chamber Players educational activities, masterclasses and classroom demonstrations are taught by area professional musicians.



Sho-Mei Pelletier

 

Sho-Mei Pelletier, Associate-Principal violin with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, follows a legacy of musicians and artists; families from China, Canada, and Mexico; and religious influences from Buddhism to Judaism. Her musical affiliations include membership in the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, playing for twenty five years as Associate-Principal violin with the Santa Fe Opera, as well as soloist with the Dallas Chamber Orchestra, the Voices of Change, the Dallas Bach Society, the Walden series, the Kodaly Ensemble, the Arensky Trio, the YES String Quintet, and the Young Strings Piano Trio. She has also appeared with the New Mexico Symphony, and Evansville Philharmonic, the Owensboro Philharmonic, and the New World Orchestra. Ms. Pelletier has taught at the Booker T. Washington School for the Arts and was an Associate Instructor of Violin at Indiana University with the world-renowned Pedagogue, Josef Gingold. She is married to Dallas Symphony bassist, Dwight Shambley, and has a son, Aaron Joshua, and a daughter, Alexis Jessica. Ms. Pelletier also enjoys oil painting and has completed over fifty-five canvases. She has won prizes in art shows and has exhibited her work in galleries in Santa Fe and Dallas. Ms. Pelletier is also a published author of a humorous book, "The Simple Dictionary for Classical Musicians". You can read a review at Xiao-mei.com, her official website! Ms. Pelletier is also featured in the 2007 "Who's Who of American Women".  Ms. Pelletier is a Fine Arts Chamber Players teaching artist for the Music A-Z educational outreach program.

 

 

Dwight Shambley

 

Dwight Shambley graduated from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and joined the Dallas Symphony in 1972. Shambley taught bass at Texas Tech University and has also been on the faculties of the University of Tulsa, the University of Arkansas and Southern Methodist University. He is a co-founder of the Dallas Symphony's Young Strings program that provides free lessons for aspiring Hispanic and African-American students. He has held the positions of principal bass with the Tulsa Symphony, assistant principal with the Santa Fe Opera and artist with the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival. He is married to Dallas Symphony violinist Sho-Mei Pelletier.  Mr. Shambley is a Fine Arts Chamber Players teaching artist for the Music A-Z educational outreach program.
