As an added bonus, the harpists also performed the jazz-influenced music of Duke Ellington and Scott Joplin. Mr. Walters is the recipient of the first-place Grand Prize in the Lyon & Healy International Jazz Harp Competition. February 23, 2013          Perfect Harmony
Experience the extraordinary talents of Dallas Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster Alexander Kerr and pianist Anton Nel as they perform the music of Debussy, Franck and more. Regarded by the press as a masterful virtuoso with an elegant, old-world sound, Mr. Kerr performs with an expressive and charismatic style that has made him one of today’s most accomplished violinists. Prize winning pianist Anton Nel tours extensively as a recitalist, concert soloist and chamber musician in addition to teaching at the University of Texas at Austin.  Nel and Kerr often tour as concert partners and perform together at the Aspen Music Festival in the summer.  They will perform Debussy’s Sonata for Violin and Piano, Franck’s Sonata for Violin and Piano and Heifetz’s rousing suite of tunes from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess.  A drawing will be held at the Bancroft concert for a free pair of tickets to the February 24dDallas Symphony Sunday matinee featuring these two artists.
