This dynamic program begins with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's String Duo No. 1 in G Major for Violin and Viola, K.423 and Bohuslav Martinu's Three Madrigals for Violin and Viola, H.313 'Duo No.1' performed by Dallas Symphony Orchestra's Principal Second Violinist Angela Fuller and DSO Associate Principal Violist Ann Marie Hudson. The concert concludes with Concerto for Violin with Percussion Orchestra by Lou Harrison. Ms. Fuller will be joined by the entire percussion section of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra - Dan Florio, Doug Howard, Brian Jones, Ron Snider - and Jon Lee, Director of the Percussion Ensemble at Southern Methodist University (SMU). Harrison's Concerto which requires a stage filled with multiple gongs, tam tams, tuned flower pots, brake drums, bass drum and tom toms will be conducted by Paul Phillips, Professor of Music and Music Director of the Meadows Symphony Orchestra at SMU.

October 15, 2011 Dallas Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet
Members of the Brass Quintet include Dallas Symphony Orchestra principal players Ryan Anthony (trumpet), Kevin Finamore (trumpet), Gregory Hustis (horn), John Kitzman (trombone), and Matthew Good (tuba). The music presented at this free concert will include compositions written during the past 400 years starting with the Renaissance composer William Byrd and continuing with Bach, Holst, Wagner, and the 21st century music of Kevin McKee. The program will conclude with brass quintet arrangements of Duke Ellington’s music. The Dallas Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet recently recorded this program for release on CD later this season.
November 19, 2011 Chamber Music Charm
The program opens with Beethoven's Violin Sonata No. 1 in D Major, Op. 12, No 1. performed by Jing Wang, Concertmaster of The Dallas Opera Orchestra and pianist Jeewon Lee. The duo is joined by cellist Jolyon Pegis, a member of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, for a performance of one of the jewels in chamber music literature - Brahms' Trio No. 1, Op. 8 in B Major for violin, cello and piano. Ms. Lee is an award-winning pianist from Houston, TX and serves on the pre-college piano faculty at Rice University.

The program for this concert includes baroque musical selections of Scarlatti arranged for quintet by James Ryon, Ligeti’s Six Bagatelles for Wind Quintet, Damase’s 17 Variations for wind Quintet and Aires Tropicales by Paquito D’Rivera. University of North Texas Faculty Woodwind Quintet members are flutist Mary Karen Clardy, clarinetist John Scott, bassoonist Kathleen Reynolds, horn player William Scharnberg and the newly appointed UNT Professor of Oboe, James Ryon.

October 23, 2010 Made in the USA: the American Spirit in Music
Vignettes: Covered Wagon Woman by Alan Louis Smith is a recent commission from the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. The text is based on the diary of Margaret Frink, who traveled from Indiana to California by covered wagon in 1850. Featured performers include mezzo soprano Virginia Dupuy who will perform with musicians from the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra including Concertmaster Michael Shih, Associate Concertmaster Swang Lin, Principal Cellist Karen Basrak and pianist Shields-Collins Bray.
November 20, 2010 Clavier Trio in Concert
Fresh from their New York Carnegie Hall recital, The Clavier Trio features Dallas Symphony Orchestra violinist Arkady Fomin, cellist Jesús Castro-Balbi and pianist David Korevaar performing Auerbach’s Postscriptum and Rachmaninoff’s Trio Elégiaque in D minor, op. 9 composed as a tribute to Tchaikovsky when the great master died in 1893.
January 22, 2011 Masterworks for Cello
Dallas Symphony Orchestra cellist Jolyon Pegis and seven string players will be featured in an afternoon of baroque and early classical cello favorites including Couperin’s Pièces en Concert, Telemann’s Suite in D Major and concertos by Vivaldi and Carl Phillip Emanuel Bach, the second son of J.S. Bach.
February 19, 2011 Artistic Inspiration
The Aeolus Quartet, a string quartet in residence at the University of Texas at Austin, will perform Dan Welcher’s String Quartet No. 3 “Cassatt” based on three paintings by American artist Mary Cassatt. Composer Dan Welcher will open the program with commentary on the composition.
March 19, 2011 Duos of Distinction
Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra (FWSO) Associate Concertmaster Swang Lin, FWSO violinist Sergey Tsoy and pianist Elena Tsvetkova perform in a program of violin virtuoso masterworks. The concert will feature Ysaÿe’s Sonata for Two Violins in A minor, Moszkowski’s Suite for Two Violins and Piano, Op. 71 and Navarra "Spanish Dance" for Two Violins and piano, Op. 33 by Pablo de Sarasate. These pieces are considered to be among the most advanced works ever written for the violin.
April 16, 2011 Chamber Music Charm
Mount Vernon Music with guest artist Geoffrey Winter of the American Horn Quartet, presents Mozart’s Quintet for horn and strings, and Mahler’s youthful Quartet for Piano and Strings. The program includes Brahms Trio in E flat major, Op. 40, for horn, violin and piano. Mount Vernon Music performers include violinist Mark Miller, violist Ute Miller, cellist Carol Harlos and pianist Steven Harlos. They will be joined by guest artist Geoffrey Winter of the American Horn Quartet and April Kondrat, violist on this concert.
May 21, 2011 5th Annual Charles Barr Memorial Concert
Mr. Russell Houston, cello and Ms. Christina Long, piano will perform Bach’s Suite No. 5 in c minor, Beethoven’s Cello Sonata No. 3 in A major and music by Schumann and Sarasate at the Bancroft Family Concert Season Finale, May 21, 2011. Sixteen-year-old Russell Houston has received numerous honors at competitions including grand prizes at the 2011 Juanita Miller Concerto Competition and the 2011 Dallas Symphonic Festival. Ms. Long has performed in recitals and orchestra's in Canada, China, Indonesia, Taiwan, Turkey, 26 states in US and Poland. This performance will honor the memory of Dallas-native Charles Barr, a bassist with the Cleveland Orchestra, who died at the age of 31 in a tragic bicycle accident.

Since 1981, Fine Arts Chamber Players (FACP) has presented the Basically Beethoven Festival, a series of FREE recitals and classical chamber music concerts that take place every Sunday afternoon at a local Dallas Cultural Center.
The concerts annually feature over fifty outstanding musicians drawn from the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, The Dallas Opera Orchestra and area university faculties, playing to full-capacity audiences.
The Rising Star Youth Recitals precede the feature performances and showcase young talented musicians. FACP provides a venue for these gifted young artists as they pursue careers in music to perform before a wider audience.

Allison Whitfield, oboist, is a winner in the 2011 Mid-Texas Symphony Young Artist Concerto Competition. She will present the music of Mozart and Saint Saens.

Imperial Brass, a ten member Dallas-based professional ensemble, will present a rousing concert of brass selections themed "A Time Travelers Concert" featuring music from the Renaissance to the 20th century. The program includes music by Gabrieli, Beethoven, Strauss and Grainger.

Gary Levinson, Senior Associate Concertmaster of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and pianist Daredjan Baya Kakouberi perform an all-Beethoven program featuring sonatas from Levinson/Kakouberi's soon-to-be-released CD of the complete Sonatas for Piano and Violin by Beethoven.

Terri Sanchez, a Prize Winner of the National Flute Association Young Artist Competition and 1st Prize Winner of the NFA Orchestral Audition Competition, will perform music by Piston, Bach and Robert Dick. She will be joined by her husband, pianist Gabriel Sanchez.

Yuri Anshelevich, Associate Principal Cellist of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and pianist Gabriel Sanchez perform the music of Beethoven, Brahms and Schumann.

The Aeolus Quartet will perform Beethoven's masterpiece, String Quartet No. 15 in A minor, Opus 132.

The Rising Star Recitals are performed during the Basically Beethoven Festival, every Sunday in July, and begin at 2:30 pm, just prior to the main concerts at 3:00 pm.

Allison Whitfield
Allison Whitfield began playing the oboe at age eleven. A Michigan resident, she played in the Michigan All-State Orchestra and the Michigan Youth Arts Festival multiple times in high school, along with other various honor bands. In 2006 Allison began formal training at Michigan State University under the tutelage of Jan Eberle, former principal oboist of the Fort Worth Symphony. In summer 2009 and 2010, Allison underwent intensive orchestral training at the Chautauqua Institution, playing in the festival orchestra and performing in recitals. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance in May 2010, Allison is now pursuing a Master’s degree in Music Performance at UT Arlington under the instruction of Rogene Russell, principal of the Dallas Opera, member of the Fort Worth Symphony, and Artistic Director of Fine Arts Chamber Players. Allison recently won second place in the Mid-Texas Symphony’s Young Artist Concerto Competition and also won the UTA Band Alumni Scholarship Award, Sue and Art Mosby Scholarship Award, and the Arlington Arts League Rick Bateham Memorial Scholarship.
Annie Lin
Dr. Annie Lin actively maintains a performing career as a soloist, chamber musician, and collaborative pianist with performances that span North America, Asia, and Europe. She is a dedicated collaborative pianist, recording more than one hundred compact discs and DVDs with young instrumental artists for the BPC Recording label. The former head of the piano division at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Dr. Lin has been an Assistant Professor at Southern Methodist University, Scripps College in Claremont, CA, and a Lecturer at the University of Southern California. She received her B.M. in piano performance from USC’s Thornton School of Music studying with James Bonn, and subsequently received her M.M. and D.M.A. degrees in piano performance studying with John Perry. Currently, Dr. Lin serves on the faculty of the Brandeis Piano Conservatory in Richardson, TX, where she maintains a private teaching studio and trains and coaches students in the art of collaboration.

Sahun Hong
Born in 1994 in Seoul, Korea, Sahun Hong has studied piano since age four. At the age of 16, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from TCU with a degree in Piano Performance. He is a student of Professor John Owings. He has also had lessons with Juilliard Professors Martin Canin and Veda Kaplinsky. Prior to entering TCU at the age of 11, Sahun performed in 28 schools in the Fort Worth ISD through the Van Cliburn Foundation’s “Musical Awakenings” program.Sahun has won numerous prizes and awards, including the 2010 Lennox International Young Artist Competition, the 2009 Fort Worth Symphony Young Artist Competition, and the 2009 Leschetizky Competition for Gifted Young Pianists in New York. Sahun has performed with the Fort Worth Symphony, Richardson Symphony, Waco Symphony, Brazos Valley Symphony, Galveston Symphony and Camerata New York. He has also been featured on the nationally broadcast radio show “From the Top.”

Terri Sanchez
Terri Sanchez is a doctoral candidate at the University of North Texas, studying with Professor Terri Sundberg. She received her Master of Music degree from Southern Methodist University and her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She is a laureate of many national competitions: 1st Prize Winner of the San Diego Flute Guild Artist Gold Competition, 2nd Prize Winner of the National Flute Association Young Artist Competition along with the award for "Best Interpretation of a Newly Commissioned Work," 2nd Prize Winner of the 26th Annual Myrna W. Brown Artist Competition, 1st Prize Winner of the NFA Orchestral Audition Competition and Finalist in the Walfrid Kujala Piccolo Competition. Ms. Sanchez is on the faculty of Floot Fire, a summer flute camp, a Teaching Fellow at UNT and teaches private flute lessons at her home in Carrollton.

Katelan Tran Terrell
Born in 1994, Katelan Tran Terrell began taking piano lessons at age five, under Mrs. Donna Kemp. Since 2008, she has been studying with Dr. John Solomons at the University of Texas at Arlington and frequently participates in the Clavier Series Recitals there. At age fifteen, she made her concert debut for a Sigma Alpha Iota Scholarship Fundraiser at Irons Recital Hall. Katelan is the recipient of numerous awards and prizes, including: winner of the 2010 Texas Music Teachers Association Competition, senior piano performance finalist at the 2011 Music Teachers National Association Competition, and winner of the 2011 Young Musicians Concerto Competition sponsored by the Fort Worth Civic Orchestra. Currently, she is an 11th-grade homeschooler and a UTA Honors Academy student pursuing a B.A. in Piano Performance.

Vatsal Vemuri
Vatsal Vemuri(age 8) will start 3rd grade this fall at St. Mark's School of Texas in Dallas. Vatsal started learning to play the piano with Ms. Phoebe Hemmingway at the Suzuki Institute of Dallas. He is now continuing his piano studies with Dr. Bret Serrin at the Suzuki Institute. Vatsal played a Beethoven sonata at the DMTA Symphonic Festival in January 2011 and placed 1st in the Elementary I category.
Nikki Naghavi
Nikki Naghavi (age 10) was born in Dallas. She is the only child in her family. She started playing the violin at the Suzuki Institute of Dallas when she was 4 1/2 years old. She is the student of Ms. Nicolette Solomon. Nikki is in the "Gifted & Talented" program at her school and will start 5th Grade this fall. She practices her violin for 2 hours a day and she likes to draw, read and play with her friends. She also loves to play her violin for anyone who enjoys listening to music.
Shokhvrit Mand
Shokhvrit Mand (age 14) is a student of Dr. Bret Serrin at the Suzuki Music Institute of Dallas. He has been acclaimed by audience and critics alike on numerous occasions, including his recitals in the prestigious Eisemann Performing Arts Center and his award–winning performance during the Sixth International Frédéric Chopin Youth Competition. Hailed by Russian America as “a musician of both profound emotions and stunning virtuosity”, Shokhvrit has also been a prizewinner in the DMTA competition, Dallas Solo Piano Competition, Collin County Young Artist's Competition and Hubbard Chamber Music Competition. This summer Shokhvrit was accepted as a scholarship student at the International Institute for Young Musicians.

BANCROFT FAMILY CONCERTS PARKING INFORMATION
All Bancroft Family Concerts are held in Horchow Auditorium in the Dallas Museum of Art in the Downtown Arts District at 1717 N. Harwood Street, Dallas Texas. Metered parking is available on nearby streets and in area parking lots. The Dallas Museum of Art’s underground parking garage is $10.

INFORMATION ON WOODALL RODGERS CONSTRUCTION AND ACCESS TO ARTS DISTRICT
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has begun construction on the Woodall Rodgers Deck Park due for completion in 2012. The Harwood Street Bridge has been permanently removed to make room for a new 5.2 acre park spanning across Woodall Rodgers. The St. Paul ramp is scheduled to be rebuilt and opened to motorists in six months.
